Is Next Year Going To Be Any Stranger?

Only time can tell. Without taking all those flimsy masks and crumpling them up in an instant, or silently admonishing the money you spent on the commute to the vaccination center and critically wondering if part of the pharmaceutical giants’ plans are to cash in on all these chemical ‘drives’ to keep us physically alive. No matter though, as more places around the world are shifting tactics in this funny new world— it seems like this ‘highly absurd’ year is not fully over yet. Nearly there ?

Another two weeks and the year is officially kapish, done, complete, finito. So hands up if you will be glad to usher in the new year with the restoration of some amount of peace and gratitude. For what you may wonder? Gratitude for an excellent public service system that ensures the highest quality of care for you and your loved ones, thankful that in spite of everything terrible that has happened thus far…

There is still prerogative for wishful thinking, sustained visions of hope, when health and happiness remain on the cards. Perhaps what we have learnt from this pandemic is that one can always make use of the most horrible circumstances to bring out the best side of the human condition. With that, may we all enjoy the ‘tidings’ this Advent and not overthink the possibility of worrisome events ruining our celebrations.

After all, sometimes our best plans fail when we plan to fail.
