Chicken Nuggets A Drama Worth Watching
In this Netflix adaptation based on the similarly-named webtoon, a father goes all out to try and save his daughter Min-Ah who has stepped into a machine and turned into a chicken nugget. Those who are familiar with Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis will also be acquainted with the plot of a human being turn into another creature, in this case an ordinary man who transforms into a cockroach and is forced to live as one.
Why is this particular Korean drama worth watching? Well, for one it focuses on the plight of an everyday ‘family man’ with a daughter that he dotes on. When he discovers that his only daughter has transformed into a chicken nugget, he does everything he can do to try and get her to return to her original human form. There are 10 episodes in total, each approximately half and hour long and these bite-sized episodes make for easy browsing.
Without giving away too much, the plot interweaves some aspects of time travel, as the characters in modern-day Seoul crisscross with characters living in ancient Korea. There is something about Chicken Nuggets that reminds me of the Hollywood film Back To The Future and is certainly worth watching, particularly for those of you who enjoy science fiction at its best.
